Biographical / Historical

By about 1863, the hotel was taken over by Robert Thomas Simons, who had married Sarah A. L. Patrick earlier in Columbus. Born in North Carolina (ca. 1814), he was formerly a cabinetmaker. He died January 25, 1881 and is buried in Linwood Cemetery in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia.
