Subjects covered in the General Accounting Manual include: automatic data processing control requirements; explanations of balance sheets and chart accounts; and uniform input formats.
This manual was written as a reference tool for Department of Transportation personnel officers and staff. Items covered in the publication include general personnel policies: appointments; status changes and separations; attendance and leave regalations; classifications: training; and forms procedures. Sample forms are included.
This series consists of material and cost specifications determined by Department of Transportation engineers and applied to contracting firms working on state road and bridge projects. Representative standards include those for bridge excavation; concrete slope paving; superstructure concrete; pile driving; channel excavation; asphalt materials; pre-mixed cement; and structure excavation.
The subject files of the Dept. of Transportation Commissioner contain: (1) correspondence (2) memorandums (3) invitations (4) brochures (5) news releases (6) reference copies of board minutes (7) other records documenting the various undertakings of the Highway Department (now the Department of Transportation). There are several sequences of files, one a "general" file and one a county file. Though the file folder labels vary somewhat from year to year, many are repeated every year.
This publication is the Department of Transportation's press releases.
This series contains newspaper clippings on subjects that are of interest to the Department as well as news releases from the Department and its officials. Most of the clippings relate to the Department and its activities. Included in some instances are maps and charts, Governor's proclamations, and articles on political candidates.
This series contains pamphlets, folders, leaflets, maps, and other publications of the Georgia Department of Transportation.
This series contains maps and negatives of maps of urban areas, counties and regions reflecting the federally aided highway system as well as changes and updates. Included are county map originals (paper copies of mylar county maps) and state map mylar originals.
This series contains coverage counts and estimates of average daily traffic (form HPS-T-83) compiled by the Division for use as a basis for the extrapolation of future traffic patterns so as to determine highway needs.
This series is used i n conjunction with Series 27, Traffic Coverage Count Files, of this sub-group, to predict traffic trends. The type of vehicle is equally important as the traffic volume in determining future highways in the State. Trucks, for example, because of their great weight, require more substantially constructed highways than do automobiles. The Vehicle Classification Data Reports are summaries of the data compiled on the vehicle classification code sheets.
The purpose of the Policy and Procedure Manual is to insure that tollroad locations and designs are consistent with local, state, and federal goals as defined in the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. The series established guidelines for public hearings, environmental analysis requirements, and procedures for historic preservation in connection with the construction of a tollroad system in Georgia. Location and design stage flow charts and an appendix are included.
This series contains correspondence, studies, reports, contracts, maps, engineering data and other records which document all phases of the coordination, administration and supervision of the financing, implementation and operation of toll roads in Georgia. It is significant that a large portion of the records in this series document the work of various consulting firms engaged by the Division to study the feasibility of constructing toll roads in the State.
