This series contains a bound ledger book of the County Treasurer's Office of Walton County. The services rendered to the county. Also accounted for are the monies received from the sale of liquor licenses.
"Wanted" Persons records
Broadsides, post cards, and letters concerning primarily persons who had escaped from west Georgia convict work camps. The items are addressed to the Chief of Police in Selma, Alabama, and contain physical descriptions and criminal histories of the persons.
Warren Akin Civil War letters to Nathan Land
Detailed and expressive letters from Akin to his friend during a time when both men had left their homes to take refuge in Elberton and Brooks County, Georgia, respectively. Akin wrote about family relations, medical services, religious affairs, politics, states rights, his philosophy concerning slaves, and various disasters. He was able to give Land a complete account of the Union Army's destruction of Cassville.

Warren's school roll book, 1869-1886, and papers relating to the Redbone community. Also includes a copy of an 1860 map of the area.

This series contains several unbound photocopies of marriage records given to the Archives by a private donor. The records consist of both licenses and certificates included on the same document. Information on the licenses includes name of the groom, name of the bride and date license was issued. The certificates give the date of the marriage, name of the Ordinary and name of the person performing the wedding ceremony.

Wash Coleman shoemaker and store account book
Record of goods and services sold by Coleman, including liquor and wood. Most of the 1860 entries are for shoemaking and tannery services. Many of the earlier entries concern the hiring out of hands, horses, and wagons.

This series contains unbound bands and applications of the Court of Ordinary concerning the licensing of a person to carry a pistol. The applications give the applicant's name, make and caliber of pistol or revolver and its serial number. The bonds, required under the Acts of 1910, obliged a person who applied for a pistol toters license to put up the sun of $100 as a payment for binding himself to use the pistol for only proper and legitimate purposes.

The grant books these indexes refer to are located in the Surveyor General’s Office in the Archives.
