This series consists of brief unbound forms recording the sale of commuter, excursion and 1,000 mile tickets for travel up and down the Western & Atlantic. Information on the forms includes: (1) name of station where the tickets were sold, (2) date, (3) particular distance of miles traveled and the corresponding sequential ticket number, (4) type of ticket sold, (5) where from, (6) where to, (7) to whom sold, and (8) amount.

This series consists of semi-bound reports of tickets sold by conductors to "way" passengers traveling along the W & A or "through" passengers traveling to other lines. The reports list the: (1) number of passengers, (2) where from, (3) where to, (4) amount, and (5) total (which was usually audited). The reports usually cover two consecutive days at a time and are clipped together on a one to two week basis.

This series consists of the unbound incoming correspondence addressed to the Master of Transportation. Dealing with questions of both passengers and freight, but particularly freight, the letters involve the: (1) logistics of distributing freight cars to shippers, (2) claims for loss, (3) damage or overcharge exceptions, (4) refunds from other railroads, and (5) special ticket rates for excursions, fairs and conventions.

This series consists of unbound discrete, ephemeral records. They are primarily important for their visual values and secondarily for their evidentiary values of the operational functions of the railroad.

This series consists of unbound court cases, legal documents, agreements, contracts and ordinances. The files are dissimilar in format and in origin but share a common purpose for legal reference. These cases include only a partial sample of all the cases to which the Western and Atlantic was a party.

This series consists of unbound records too miniscule in number to include in new and separate series.

This series consists of a bound specification and order book used by the Superintendent acting as purchasing agent for the railroad. The volume lists: the type, number, quality, cost, and source of supplies, hardware or goods. A typical entry reads' "One (1) dozen Spittoons No. 3 $17.00 black, by express C.O.D to", p. 95. Some of the goods, especially capital equipment, appears to be for the purpose of replacing materials and equipment lost or damaged during the Civil War.

This series consists of the "information record" created in the writing of checks of the Treasurer. Each stub contains the date, the warrant number (which is not consistently included), the payee or purpose of the check and the amount. The check book is dilapidated, but the stubs are in good physical condition and legible.

This series consists of various unbound papers too minuscule in number to include in new and separate series.

Collection consists of estate records, compiled genealogy, newspaper recipes, correspondence, deeds and indentures, and certificates and diplomas relating to the Whaley, Carmichael, Stevens, Smith, Gibbes, Eve, Laue, Pritchart, Bitfield, Thomas, Lord, Davis, and Stanyarne families. Most of it relates to Richmond County, Georgia.

This series consists of plat books. A plat is a subdivision of land into lots and landmarks, streets and alleys, marked upon the earth, and represented on paper.

Includes deeds, plats, bills of sale, receipts, fi fa, estate papers, and a few letters connected with the Wilcher, Davis, Seals, and Snell families in Warren, Jefferson, Glascock, Johnson, Burke, Richmond, and Wilkinson Counties in Georgia. Enslaved people are listed in estate records, and African-Americans are mentioned in records following the Civil War.

This series contains original unbound papers which formed portions of Civil and criminal case files involving: (1) distress warrants, (2) promissory notes, (3) summonses, (4) accusations, and (5) indictments.

Promissory notes and court cases, from Wilkes County, Georgia and Richmond County, Georgia. Records involve the Alexander, Anthony, Butler, Dearing, Dooly, Floyd, Hill, Seaman, Shackelford, Ward, Wiley, and Wingfield families.

This series contains original unbound papers which formed portions of civil and criminal case files involving: (1) Debts, (2) Executions, (3) Affidavits (4) Assumsits, (5) Garnishments, (6) Attachments, (7) Bail bonds, (8) Fi fas, (9) Complaints, (10) Certioraris, and (11) Warrants.

This series consists of a bound ledger containing: (1) the parties in litigation, (2) amount of judgement plus interest, (3) court costs, and (4) date judgement was satisfied.
