This series consists of bound registration books containing names and addresses of visitors and guests of the Department of Archives and History who came for business other than research. Their business ranges from actually meeting with the Director to attending workshops, symposia, training classes, etc. Other sections of the Department as well as the Director's Office used these volumes to register their visitors and guests. These volumes were once stored in the Director's Office, but are now placed at the Reception Desk in the Main Lobby of the Archives. The dates and contents of the volumes overlap. Some were used for a particular purpose, some for multi purposes. The contents of the first two volumes, embossed with gold leaf "Guest Registers, Archives and Records Building Dedication, October 11, 1965," were initially used for visitors on the occasion of the official opening of the Archives Building. However, through the years (the latest date is January 12, 1983), many other events were recorded in them, generally listing participant name and address. These two volumes were used simultaneously. Volumes 3 through 6 record just the names of the visitors and guests and their addresses. It is unfortunate that the event or reason they were visiting the Archives was not recorded.
