Georgia Archives - Public Reference Service - Rhodes Hall Visitor Registration
Scope and Contents
This series consists of the bound registration books kept at Rhodes Memorial Hall for the purpose of registering visitors and guests who came for visits, tours, teas, meetings and other activities. The volumes generally contain names, addresses and dates of visits. The books were used both for tour groups and daily patrons. For the most part, a count of the total number of persons in a tour or meeting was kept in the margin of the books. Rhodes Memorial Hall, home of the Department of Archives and History from 1930 to 1965, was also a meeting place for such organizations as the United Daughters of the Confederacy and Daughters of the American Revolution chapters as well as serving as a showcase for the style of affluent life some Atlantans enjoyed in the early part of the 20th century. Today, Rhodes Hall is rented from the State by the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation for office use. It is still open to the public for tours. For other registration books of the Department of Archives and History, please see Series 7, Researchers and Visitors Registration Books; Series 48, Guest Registration Books for Tours; and Series 49, Archives Guest Registration Books, all of this sub group.
