Georgia Archives - New Georgia Guide - Maps and Cartographer
Scope and Contents
This series contains original and photocopied material of project coordinator Jane Powers Weldon's working files on maps for The New Georgia Guide. The guide, sponsored by the Georgia Humanities Council and published in 1996, was designed as an update of the WPA Guide to Georgia first published in 1940. It consists of essays and tours of nine different geographic regions of the state, each written by a separate author. Maps of the tours for each region were published in the book. Included are drafts, correspondence with the cartographer and with tour writers, and proofs.
