Georgia Archives - New Georgia Guide - Regional Coordinators
Scope and Contents
This series contains original and photocopied material of project coordinator Jane Powers Weldon's working files on the regional coordinators for The New Georgia Guide. The guide, sponsored by the Georgia Humanities Council and published in 1996, was designed as an update of the WPA Guide to Georgia first published in 1940. It consists of essays and tours of nine different geographic regions of the state, each written by a separate author, with photographs and maps. Regional coordinators gathered information on their region and facilitated contacts between regional historians, writers, curators, and business organizations, and essay and tour writers. Included are: (1) correspondence with and printed material from regional coordinators, (2) meeting arrangements and general correspondence, (3) contracts, (4) midterm reports.
