This series contains a publication produced by the Crime Statistics Data Center of the Division of Criminal Justice of the Georgia State Crime Commission. Entitled Crime in Georgia, this publication was established in 1974 to inform the public, lawmakers, administrators and others annually about crime occurrences and the processing of persons through the criminal justice system. The first volume contained statistics for incidence of crime and arrests only, but later volumes extended the scope by including data not only from law enforcement agencies in Georgia, but also from courts and correctional agencies as well. Unfortunately it must be noted that available data was weak and incomplete in some areas, but plans outlined in 1972 Georgia Criminal Justice Information System were But in motion to increase the pool of crime and criminal justice information in Georgia. Each volume contains narrative reports in the areas mentioned above together with an extensive collection of statistical tables and a list of members of the State Crime Commission.
