Public Health - Southwestern State Hospital - Re-Hab-Bit (Publication)
Scope and Contents
This series contains the staff newslettter published by and for the personnel and patients of the Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville and its affiliate, Bainbridge State Hospital. A typical single-page issue might contain (1) news concerning new hospital programs, (2) announcements of committee and other group meetings, (3) reminders to department heads of reports due, (4) reminders to all staff members to get chest x-rays and (5) a cartoon. The publication dates of this newsletter were apparently rather erratic. Though each issue bears a precise date implying a weekly or even a daily publication, the extant numbers do not bear out this implication. For example, the 1971 publications appeared almost daily for three months and then were either discontinued or not retained. Consequently, it is most important to check the finding aid carefully for those issues in this collection. For newsletters issued after the Georgia government reorganization of 1972, see Record Group 82, Mental Health Division of the Department of Human Resources, Sub group 9, Southwestern State Hospital, Series 25.
