Scope and Contents
This series consists of bound, generally published, records produced by the Office of Nursing Services. Included are (1) published booklets on the nursing profession in Georgia, (2) interdepartmental study guides for nursing students, (3) reports from other agencies as well as county and community projects, (4) preliminary drafts, (5) reprints from medical journals, (6) speeches, (7) photographs showing community nurses at work, (8) surveys, (9) training manuals for practicing nurses, (10) lesson plans, (11) memos, (12) annual reports and (13) records on the Merit System Classification Study. Within these records can be found the interesting history and dramatic change in nursing care within the State of Georgia. The topics of the many manuals range from increasing productivity of nursing to guides for nursing care of the mentally ill. The Office of Nursing Services is charged with the responsibility of providing professional leadership and coordination of nursing services; maximizing the utilization of nursing skills in health care delivery, including preventive services, and providing training to augment nursing skills to meet the needs of all citizens in all areas of the State.
