Butts County - Probate Court - Pony Homestead Records
Scope and Contents
Pony Homesteads are small homesteads that are exempt from property taxation. The records comprising this series are bound volumes containing petitions to the Probate Judge to obtain such exemptions and schedules of property to be so exempted. Information presented in these volumes includes the petitions from applicants which includes a list of each applicant's children (usually given), a list of all property to be exempted and an enumeration of the value of each item, the date of the application and a rough plat showing the acreage and location of the property.
