Scope and Contents
Pony Homesteads are small homesteads that are exempt from property taxation. The records comprising this series are bound volumes containing petitions to the Probate Judge to obtain such exemptions and schedules of property to be so exempted. Information presented in these volumes includes the petitions from applicants which includes a list of each applicant's children (usually given), a list of all property to be exempted and an enumeration of the value of each item, the date of the application and a rough plat showing the acreage and location of the property.

Entries are arranged and listed in chronological order by date of when the application was received by the Probate Court. The volumes contain an index in which the applicants are listed in alphabetical order by the initial letter of their surname. The volumes are arranged in chronological order.
