Scope and Contents
This series is composed of bound volumes which document the civil and criminal complaints filed in the court for the inclusive dates listed. Information presented in them includes: (1) case number (often not given); (2) names of attorneys (often not given); (3) names of litigants; (4) type of charge complained of; (5) Georgia Militia District number in which the court was located; (6) date the summons was issued; (7) constable's entry concerning disposition of case; (8) date and term of court; (9) disposition of case; (10) an enumeration of court costs, and (11) date of issue of execution. The type of complaint charged in criminal cases was usually assault and battery and in civil cases usually involved recovery of property such as liens, promissory notes and mortgages.
