The files in this series are roughly grouped (with many exceptions) by name of site (not alphabetically) and thereunder by subject but in no discernible order.

Related Materials

These records document the volume of research and general background work connected with the restoration and operation of the several state historic sites inherited in 1972 by the Department of Natural Resources from the old State Historical Commission under the Secretary of State's Office. Consequently, in order to gain a complete knowledge of these projects, one must consult the records of this now defunct agency, Record Group 61, particularly Series 1, General Administrative Records of the Commission.
