Scope and Contents

The Recreation Commission was created by the Act of April 9, 1963. The Commission's major duties were to formulate a recreation policy for the state of Georgia and to work with the state and local governmental agencies in establishing recreational programs, The Executive Reorganization Act of 1972 abolished the Commission and transferred its powers and duties to the Department of Natural Resources. Recreation in Georgia is a publication that features the activities of the Commission and of local governmental agencies in beginning and accomplishing recreational projects. It also includes personnel news, i.e. personnel changes, awards, meetings etc.
