Scope and Contents

This series contains: (1) originals and copies of correspondence, (2) Department policy and procedure statements, (3) directives, (4) memorandums, (5) copies of speeches, and (6) other working papers documenting all phases of the work of the Department of Community Affairs. This work specifically includes special projects involving coordinated efforts of the Department and local government agencies in Georgia, cooperative efforts involving federal, state and local governments and national organizations, boards and associations in which the Commissioner participates as a representative of the Department or the Governor. Prior to 1996, Department of Community Affairs (DCA) and Georgia Housing and Finance Administration (GHFA), operated as separate entities with separate directors. In July of 1996, the two merged and the position of the GHFA Executive Director was combined with that of the DCA commissioner.
