Scope and Contents
This series consists of documents relating to the distribution of information to the news media and the public from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. A sampling of publicity contained in the news releases includes: legislation passed requiring farmers to install anti-siphoning devices on irrigation systems; the licensing of pet and exotic bird breeders and dealers; records of crops produced in Georgia; a halt in licensing of roadside seafood peddlers; the requirement of fumigation of California fruits and vegetables; changes in regulations concerning the sale and movement of adult cattle which have been vaccinated for brucellosis; emergency regulations requiring wholesale and retail sellers of kerosene to identify the fuel by grade on all dispensing equipment and containers; a major livestock show in Ecuador and Venezuela; failure of the U.S. entering into a long term sales agreement with the Soviet Union; and the opening of the Georgia tobacco markets.
