Scope and Contents
This series consists of copies of the official minutes of the Board of the Georgia Correctional Industries Administration. The Correctional Industries Administration was established in 1960 by Act of the General Assembly to 1) Provide construction, relevant employment and skill training for Georgia inmates and prepare them for employment upon release; 2) Provide economical products and services necessary for the efficient operation of government; and 3) Operate in a profitable and self-sufficient manner. Funding for the Correctional Industries Administration is provided through manufacture and sale of products and services.
Topics discussed within the minutes include: 1) the income statements of each industrial plant for the past year; 2) productivity rate comparisons; 3) budget requests; 4) sales and revenue comparisons; 5) presentation of resolutions; and 6) task force formulation to improve communication between the county industries and the Department.
