Scope and Contents

The general administrative records, commonly called subject files, of the Commissioner of the Department of Human Resources, include correspondence, memo-randums, circulars, reports, studies, statistical tables, Governor's executive orders and other papers. The papers primarily relate to the overall administration of this very large and diverse Department.

The series is arranged chronologically in sometimes overlapping spans of years or by single year and then by subject title appearing on each file folder. There apparently was some attempt to group the files by division of the Department, but there is no alphabetical or other discernible arrangement.
