Governor - Tri-State Water Compact Commission - Negotiation Files

 Series
Identifier: 001-32-168

Scope and Contents

This series documents a comprehensive basin-wide water resources study conducted by a committee of representatives from the states of Alabama, Florida, and Georgia and the United States Army Corps of Engineers, 1992-1996. The study focused on the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint and the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa river basins (both originating in Georgia), the water resource needs of the three states, and the long-term management of the basins. The meeting files of Joe Tanner, appointed by the Governor’s Office to represent the State of Georgia, include agendas, correspondence, memoranda, minutes, and reports pertaining to the ACF/ACT Comprehensive Water Resources Study, 1995-1997, as well as a proposed compact between the three states.
