University System - Fort Valley State College - Bulletins

 Series
Identifier: 033-25-153

Scope and Contents

The Fort Valley State College was founded in 1895 as the Fort Valley High and Industrial School, for the purpose of providing a higher education for the black citizens in Georgia and the southeastern United States. The college subsisted largely on contributions from religious organizations and private individuals until 1939 when the School was consolidated with the State Teachers and Agricultural College for Negroes at Forsyth. The present name of the School was adopted by the Board of Regents at that date. The bulletins are very similar to those of the other colleges in the University System. They contain lists of faculty and staff members, an introduction to the college, list of student activities, list and description of degrees and courses offered and other similar information.
