University System - Carl Vinson Institute of Government - Annual Reports
Scope and Contents
This series contains copies of the annual reports produced by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government located at the University of Georgia, Athens, Ga. A typical annual report would contain such topics as (1) the Executive Summary, (2) special accomplishments and strengths of faculty and staff, (3) programs, (4) new degree programs, (5) minority concerns, (6) institutional effectiveness, and various attachments. For more than 50 years, the Institute of Government has been helping public officials provide better government for the people of the state. From its beginnings in 1927 as the Institute of Public Affairs to its renaming in 1983 for the former Georgia Congressman, the organization has been actively providing a strong public service program by: (1) meeting the research, technical assistance, and continuing education needs of state and local officials; (2) broadening the vision of community leaders and government officials about the nature of public policy issues; (3) educating youth and adults in the concepts of active citizenship, and (4) helping prepare young men and women for effective performance in public service.
