This series consists of: (1) studies (2) reports (3) maps and charts (4) minutes of staff conferences (5) memorandums and (6) position papers. These records were created in the review of Federal project grant proposals by the Office of the Commissioner. Also included are copies of forms used by the Office including: (1) Notification of Intent to Apply for Federal Assistance (2) Receipt of Notification of Intent to Apply for Federal Assistance and (3) Results of Reviewing of Notification of Intent to Apply for Federal Assistance. Whenever a Federally funded project is initiated, a summary of the proposed project is submitted to the State Clearinghouse of the Office of Planning and Budget. The Clearinghouse forwards copies to interested State agencies which assay the potential impact of the project on their field of interest or jurisdiction. Typical projects might include highway spurs, tollways, apartment complexes, recreation areas, industrial parks and water and sewer extensions. This series is closely related to, and for the years 1974 through 1978 partially duplicates, RGSGSERIES 86-3-22, Office of Planning and Research of the Department of Natural Resources. During those four years both divisions of DNR reviewed A-95 program grant applications. The respective files, however, are slightly different in content. In 1978, the Office of Planning and Research was abolished and many of its functions transferred to the Office of the Commissioner.
