This series contains agendas for meetings, summary minutes of meetings, related correspondence, petitions, complaints and other legal documents compiled or collected by the Franchise Practices Commission, formerly the Georgia Motor Vehicle Commission. This body was formed to regulate and license persons who manufacture, distribute or sell motor vehicles, construction equipment or farm machinery in Georgia in the interest, of efficiency, public health, safety and welfare. The commission was abolished in 1979.

Arrangement Note

The records are arranged chronologically by year and then by monthly meeting. It is important to note, however, that there are minutes extant for twelve monthly meetings for some years but not for others. This could indicate either that the meetings were held irregularly in some years or that the minutes for all the meetings in certain years were not retained by the Commission. Please see the finding aid for these irregularities.
