Surveyor General - Fractional, Fraud and Reverted Lots - Fraudulent Land Lottery Draws Records
Scope and Contents
Fraudulent draws in the state’s land lotteries occurred when an individual either improperly registered or provided false information regarding his eligibility to participate in a lottery. Statements by an informer lead to a hearing in the superior court in the county in which the lot in question was located. Informers were awarded half of the lot in question if the fraudulent claims were found to be true. This series includes plats, proceedings of the superior courts, and other materials documenting the ownership, sale, or transfer of land lots in question.
