Governor - Boards and Commissions Records - Sesquicentennial of the U.S. Constitution
Scope and Contents
This pamphlet was prepared by the Georgia State Constitution Sesquicentennial Commission which was appointed by the Governor pursuant to Resolution Act 21 approved by the General Assembly on March 8, 1937. This body of not less than three nor more than five members was established to cooperate with the National Commission in making celebration plans to mark the 150th anniversary of the ratification of the United States Constitution by eleven of the thirteen original states, including Georgia. Issued by the Georgia State Department of Education, this short pamphlet includes lists of the states in order of their ratification by the Constitution, the delegates from the various states and the Georgia "deputies" to the Federal Convention and their biographies. Surprisingly enough, no specifics are included concerning the chief purpose of the commission: the celebration plans. There is no index.
