Examining Boards - Registered Nurses Board - Nursing Schools Annual Reports and Correspondence
Scope and Contents
This series consists of, but is not limited to: (1) annual reports to the Board (2) by-laws of the faculty (3) constitution of the school (4) class schedule (5) any advertising used by school and (6) correspondence. The purpose of the annual reports is to indicate the manner in which each school meets the requirements of the Nurses Board. Generally, the reports consist of a standardized mimeograph document completed by the various schools of nursing. Information in the reports includes, but is not limited to: (1) organization charts (2) copies of contracts (3) completed faculty qualification records (4) copies of annual reports (5) philosophies and objectives (6) job descriptions for beginning nursing positions (7) general institutional policies and (8) basic outlines of courses. The correspondence generally includes requests from schools for approval of secondary school transcripts submitted by student applicants, recommendations made by the Board concerning changes or improvements at the schools, general correspondence from the Board confirming dates for annual visits to the schools and similar material. The correspondence also contains survey visit reports which conclude with a series of recommendations made by the State Educational Supervisor. It is the responsibility of the Board of Examiners of Nurses for Georgia to establish policy governing the requirements for nursing where that policy is not contained in law. Besides performing all functions of conducting examinations for licensing, the Board performs periodic checks on licensees facilities, issues or revokes licenses as the case may be, maintains records to certify that licensees are in fact properly licensed and, in general, enforces a code of ethics by receiving complaints, performing investigations and presenting evidence to support or refute allegations against a licensee.
