Creator

Biographical / Historical

Lamar Q. Ball worked as a reporter for the Atlanta Constitution. He was appointed official World War II historian for the state of Georgia by Governor Ellis Arnall (1943-1947). He was tasked with writing a multi-volume history of Georgia's contribution to the war effort. With the help of Mary Louise Cobb, research assistant, Ball prepared Volume I (1939) of GEORGIA IN WORLD WAR II, probably published in 1946. Although Ball had accumulated material to document Georgia all the way through the war years, no other volumes were published.
