Undated typescript of an 1818 diary kept by Thomas Stocks of Greene County, Georgia, in which he described the survey of the Georgia - Tennessee line near Nickajack Creek with James L. Gaines and Joseph Cobb of Tennessee. Includes a brief account of his lodgings and travel from his home to Murray County, Georgia.

Biographical / Historical

Thomas was born in Georgia to Catherine Heard and Isaac Stocks from Virginia. He became commissioner of the Georgia Boundary Commission, formed in 1817. For most of his life he was a farmer in Greene County, Georgia.
