Scope and Contents

Jeremiah wrote most of these letters home to his parents, including one about the First Battle of Bull Run. Two letters are by brother Joseph. A list of women with their children and birth dates probably is of slaves.

Jeremiah J. was the son of Joseph L., Sr., and Sarah Davis, who moved with their family from Georgia to Russell County, Alabama, between 1841 and 1850. Jeremiah served in the 6th Regt. AL Vols., and his brother, Joseph L., Jr., may have served also.
