Biographical / Historical
John's identity is uncertain, but a John S. Green did serve in the 5th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry, which was stationed in the areas John mentions in his letter. He also states that a Captain Akin was slightly wounded, and Captain Richard F. Akin did serve with Company B of that regiment. The 5th Regiment drew its recruits from the Screven County, Georgia, area.
