William Greene Wilkinson (1813-1865) was born in Twiggs County, Georgia, and married Eliza Ann King (1818-1898) in 1836. The ninth child of John Lawrence and Cristiana Luther Wilkinson, William G. fought against the Native Americans in Florida and was an overseer for his father at home. In 1838, however, he and his wife followed much of her family to a section of Muscogee County, Georgia, that later became Chattahoochee County. They eventually bought the Wooldridge and Holt Plantation near Cussetta where they reared a large family, including John Henry, Christiana Elizabeth (Bettie), William King, Georgia A., Joseph O., and William G., who preached in several local Baptist churches. The Wilkinsons remained in touch with family back in Twiggs County, including William G.'s nephew, John W. Wilkinson, probably the son of John Lawrence and Fannie Wilkinson.

Eliza, wife of William Green Wilinson, was the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Lee King. Among her brothers were Joseph G. (who married Sarah N. McNaughton), John Rufus, and Jesse S. Joseph and Sarah were the parents of William Rufus King.
