Moren Moore letters
Scope and Contents
Two letters from Moren to his son William. The first describes crop production and economic conditions as well as comparing the beliefs of the Baptist church with other denominations. The second also discusses crops as well as family matters and camp life during the War of 1812.

Biographical / Historical
Moren Moore was born on April 10, 1786 in North Carolina to John Moore and Mary Keller Moore. He served in the War of 1812 as a private in Nehemiah Garrison's company from November 21, 1814-May 6, 1815 being drafted from Jackson County, Georgia. He died on February 15, 1872 in Hall County, Georgia. Moren Moore married first Elizabeth Snow on September 10, 1808 in Jackson County, Georgia. He married second Anny Waits on December 28, 1809 in Jackson County, Georgia. On May 10, 1822 he married Abigail Gravitt in Hall County, Georgia and on December 8, 1846 he married Elizabeth Doster in Hall County, Georgia. He had 16 children. He died February 15, 1872 and is buried in Hall County, Georgia. (Information taken from Find a Grave)
