Scope and Contents
The collection contains five items: an 1814 estate paper of Prudence Campbell, administrator of the estate of Stephenson Campbell, being a note held against Robert Mays; an 1819 letter from John H. Campbell in Augusta to his mother concerning the necessity of schooling for his brothers; an 1884 reprint of a published letter by John A. Campbell, judge and former Assistant Secretary of War, CSA; an 1894 Hawkinsville, GA, ball invitation; and a 1903 Brenau College program.

Biographical / Historical
John was the son of Stephenson and Prudence Hall Campbell of Edgefield District, South Carolina. He was working for a Mr. Quinn and Mr. Campbell in Augusta, Georgia, in 1819 after his father died.
