Steed, Thomson, Georgia, letter to Benjamin Bugg, requesting hand of his daughter Susan in marriage; and 1872 William P. Steed estate records (distribution of funds from sale of land and academy).

Biographical / Historical
The Bugg family lived in the Augusta area from at least the early 19th century. By 1860 Benjamin Bugg (b. ca. 1800) had moved from Columbia County, Georgia, to Louisiana where William Jephunneh Steed wrote him from Thomson, Georgia, requesting the hand of his daughter, Susan L. Bugg, in marriage. Mr. Steed was the son of William P. Steed, a Baptist preacher from Warren County, Georgia.
