Scope and Contents
The advertisement ledgers (1839-1858) contain accounts of advertisers with this newspaper, including date, topic of advertisement, and price. The daybooks (1853-1871) are a record of receipts and disbursements. The direction book (1853) is a record of subscribers, arranged by their geographic location. Includes a list of post offices in each county; index of towns to which subscriptions were mailed; and other entries used by the office in delivering or mailing the newspaper throughout Georgia and parts of Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and other states. Finally, the subscription ledger (1833-1850) is a listing of subscribers to the paper. Records date of order, name, place of residence, date of cancellation, date and amount of payment, and sometimes reason for cancellation.
