Biographical / Historical
Abby and Corrine Crawford were half sisters, the daughters of lawyer Charles Peter Crawford of Milledgeville, GA. C. P. first married Martha Williamson about 1856, and they had several children, including Corrine Anna. Martha died in 1876. About 1880 C. P. married again, to Anna Ripley Orme; and they had two children, one of whom was Mary Abby. Abby was a schoolteacher in Milledgeville. She married George Fort Milton of Chattanooga, TN, in 1904 and was an active Democrat in that state, a political activist, a suffragist, and a poet.
