Scope and Contents
A bill of sale, Sumter County, Georgia, 1885, from Mrs. A. C. Turpin to her daughter-in-law, Mrs. E. G. Turpin, for a horse, a spring buggy, two horse wagons and harness, a head of cattle, one cart and steers, a sow and nine shoats, and various bushels of corn, cotton seed, and potatoes. The other item is an 1881 deed from Rebecca J. (Mrs. J. W.) Mize to Maggie L. (Mrs. Sampson) English for Sumter County land.

Biographical / Historical
Amy Moody Turpin was born in Crawford County, Georgia in 1834 to Josiah and Mary Moody. She married William Hance Turpin (by 1855) and had several children, including George A., John A., and Mary L Turpin. Amy's husband, William, was killed in McDowell, Virginia during the Civil War.
Amy Turpin's son George married Elizabeth Green Wheeler before 1873. Elizabeth was the daughter of Sarah C. Mims and Green M. Wheeler.
