Both Marshall and Felix served in Company I of the 52nd Regiment Georgia Volunteers. from Dawson County, Georgia. James became a schoolteacher in Blairsville; while Marshall became a Dawsonville lawyer and married Mary C. (or Mollie Kate), probably from Alabama, about 1870. His orphaned sisters, Flora and Catherine, initially lived with the couple. Flora then married William Allen, a Gilmer County, Georgia, merchant. She died before 1900.
