Biographical / Historical
Mary Milton White and John Allison White were the children of Emma G. and Benjamin J. White of Meriwether County and Troup County, Georgia. John A. White moved to Atlanta as a young man and participated in city politics all his life, serving as an Atlanta city councilman and alderman for 42 years. Mary Milton White attended Southern Female College and worked at Calloway Mills for 23 years. She was active in the LaGrange Women's Club and developed the idea of a nonsectarian home for the aged.
