Philip French-Carson Greear was the head of the biology department at Shorter College and the chair of the I-75 Committee at the Georgia Conservancy when he collected these records of the fight to reroute interstate highway 75. In 1970, the national Department of Highways' plans were to bring the expressway through Bartow County, Georgia, across Lake Allatoona on five bridges and to disrupt a large number of camp sites, recreation areas, and natural wildlife preserves. By the end of the campaign, I-75 was rerouted to the west through some deserted strip mines.
