Scope and Contents

The collection is composed of correspondence, research notes, and family compilations amassed by Mr. Hollingsworth during his career. Saxon, Nicholson, Anderson, Rogers, Barnett, Brown, McKeithen, Harrell, and Harman families are some of the more important out of hundreds researched. The Leon S. Hollingsworth Card File (now on microfilm) grew out of this research.

Restrictions: Collection includes some published material. The Georgia Archives cannot give permission to publish these sources.

Biographical / Historical

Leon S. Hollingsworth was a professional genealogist in DeKalb County, Georgia, who did research throughout the Southeast. He also spoke at meetings, taught classes, and published articles. In addition to corresponding with the people and their families who hired him, Mr. Hollingsworth also exchanged information with others in his field and was certified by the National Board for Certification of Genealogists in Washington, D.C.
