Scope and Contents
Collection includes a family record of the Formbys; estate records of Larkin Formby and Isaac Baker; an 1863 slave sale agreement about ten enslaved people between Permelia Griffin and her mother Hannah Lea and other family members; an 1839 indenture concerning Joseph D. Baker, orphan; and a largely illegible letter written in 1865 by R. E. B. to parents.

Biographical / Historical
Permelia F. Lea (1812-1902) was the daughter of Hannah Horn and Noah Lea of North Carolina. She first married Larkin Formby (1801-1843), in 1829 in Wilkes County, Georgia, and bore him several children; she next married Isaac Baker in 1844; he died by 1860, and she married a Mr. Griffin. The family was in Heard County, GA by 1841 and moved into Troup County Georgia by 1860. Permelia died in Missouri.
