This collection includes Meriwether County, Georgia, indentures, most of which were recorded, a sheriff's land deed, and tax receipts; U.S. postal carrier examination results; prommissory notes; a will; and Bible records. Other families represented are Caldwell, Barintine, and Archer.

Biographical / Historical
Thomas W. Sistrunk was born in 1817 in Georgia, to his parents John and Elizabeth Sistrunk of South Carolina. The family came to Meriwether County, Georgia, before 1860. Thomas Sistrunk married Caroline D. Caver in 1837; and after her death, Lavina Meadows. His son George married Francis Caldwell and continued farming in Meriwether County, Georgia. Grandson James T. Sistrunk worked as a mail carrier.
