Scope and Contents
This collection includes genealogy, correspondence, business papers, estate records, and photographs of the family. Much of the correspondence is to daughter Sallie W. Cheshire from aspiring but unsuccessful suitors. A large number of photographs are of the Cheshire/Mayson/Todd families.

Biographical / Historical
The Hezekiah and Sarah E. Goodwin Cheshire family migrated from South Carolina to what is now the Virginia-Highland neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia ca. 1839. Their daughters, Letitia, Catherine, Martha, and Sarah W. Cheshire, never married and lived in the family home at 1080 North Highland Avenue until their deaths. One brother, N. Harrison Cheshire, married Caroline Mayson, whose sister Sara Jane married John C. Todd.
