Noel Burton Knight journal
Scope and Contents
The journal was kept during Reconstruction by this highly educated judge who commented on politics, local to international; reading; travels through north Georgia to various county seats; and the seasons and weather. Although he eschewed the personal, he made many comments about individuals, including aspiring African-American politicians, such as Ulysses L. Houston (pp. 232-233). Also included are 158 pages of Marietta shop accounts (1848-1849).

Noel Burton Knight was judge of the Superior Court of the Blue Ridge Circuit during Reconstruction and lived in Marietta, Cobb County, Georgia. He was born in North Carolina.
