Scope and Contents
Papers of the Billings S. and Lucy Pittman Ivy family. Includes deeds and account records of property owned and improved by the Pittman family on Marietta, Luckie, and Walton Streets in Atlanta, GA, especially concerning the 1896 settlement of the B. S. Ivy estate. Included also are two Civil War era letters of Henrietta Pittman; later letters concerning Ivy, Milam, Taylor, and Strickland family news and social engagements; printed school programs; and other printed items.

Biographical / Historical
Billings Socrates Ivy, b. about 1844, was the son of Henry P. and Mary Ivy of Atlanta, GA, then Marthasville. He married Lucy Asenath Pittman, b. 1844, daughter of Daniel N. and Asenath Haynes Baber Pittman. Lucy (Lute) was one of several children, including Eunice, Abigail, Daniel J., Richard A., and Henrietta (who signed her letters "Henry" or "Henerice J."). Lucy and Billings' children were Leman, Cora, May, and Rosa.
