The collection includes a UDC, Atlanta Chapter, record book of work at the Old Soldiers' Home; George S. Derry letters, 1917-1919; photographs and sheet music; Dow Ripley records; and scrapbooks of Derry's poetry and prose plus family events newspaper clippings pasted into Joseph's old teaching ledgers.

Biographical / Historical

Joseph T. Derry was a teacher, professor, and poet in Augusta, Atlanta, and Macon, GA. His wife, Elizabeth D. Osborne (b. 1844), was active in the United Daughters of the Confederacy. They had three children, the youngest of whom, George Seney Derry, served in World War I and worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
