Scope and Contents
Collection contains a letter from James M. David, 43rd Regt. GA Vols., Co. G., about conditions in Atlanta just before his death. A contract between Haden J. David and freedmen (Robert, Jacob, and others), 1865. Oaths of allegiance made the same year by William T. and James Blake Rogers (Cobb's Legion), born 1838 and 1846 respectively.

Biographical / Historical
Haden J. David of Newtown District, Jackson County, Georgia, was the father of James M. David of Danielsville, Madison County, Georgia, and of Mary Elizabeth David, as well as of many other children. Mary Elizabeth was buried in the Rogers family cemetery, probably related to James Rogers of Pond Fork, Jackson County, Georgia, and father of James Blake Rogers.
