Employees Retirement System - Administrative Division - Annual Reports
Scope and Contents
This series contains the annual reports of the Employees' Retirement System of Georgia, an agency operated for the employees of the various state government agencies. These reports were designed primarily to acquaint the state employees with the financial facts and figures relating to the System's operation. They were not to serve as substitutes for the official audits or actuarial valuations which were kept on file in the System's office for inspection. A typical report might contain: a list of the members of the Board of Trustees; a brief narrative report to the employees; explanatory notes to the financial statement; a statement of the System's assets and liabilities; a similar statement for the Employees Assurance Department; a statement for the Benefit Fund; a statement for the Social Security Trust Fund; and statements for the Georgia Legislative Retirement System and the Trial Judges and Solicitors Retirement Fund which were separate entities administered by the Employees' Retirement System. Although the format of these reports changed considerably from year to year, the contents remained similar and the number of pages averaged around thirty. Only some of the volumes contain tables of contents.
